Anger Managment

Note to self: When angry at the spouse, never take it out on the appliances. Andy and I bought a washer and dryer for $50 (yes together for $50) about 2 years ago and they were still working fine. Over 100 washs for sure ( I stopped counting once I figured we got our monies worth). A couple of weeks ago, Andy did something to frustrate me. I was doing laundry and got a little too upset with the dryer door. Ever since then the laundry door has been having issues with staying shut. So the moral of the story: Pick a cheaper appliance to get angry at :) !

WomanSavers.com

I was directed to this really cool website today.  Before I got married , when I would meet a guy, I would check out his criminal record on Wisconsin Circuit Court Access.  But that will only give information on the illegal things he had done.  It’s not like cheating is a crime, but it should be.   Womansavers webstie offers a Rate-a-Guy section where you can search for your new beau.   This would have been really helpful when I was still single.

The website also offers articles and quizzes about cheating, abusive relationships, games, quotes, very interstering e-cards that I would suggest checking out, and even recipes.  I will be trying the Black Lolita drink recipe.  Sounds like a drink made for me.

On a more serious side, the articles on the site are very educational and easy to read.  I like that there seems to be a comphrehensive list of places for women to contact if they are in a domestic abuse situation.  Its nice to know that there are so many different places a woman can go in her time of need.  The signs of cheating is also a great article.   I agree that a woman should always trust her gut, because it is rarely wrong.

SPringtime

You know you are a true Wisconsinite when the temperature hits 53 degrees and you start thinking when to unpack the shorts.  It seems like everyone is out and about walking the streets with no jackets and not cold.  Cold is below 0.  Not 53 degrees.  We are thinking about using the grill tonight.  We just bought a patio set for the deck.  Gotta break it in!

Run, Remington, Run

My work is having using Virgin Health Miles.  Basically, the more active, more steps you take, the more money you make.  Its sad, but I am more likely to excercise when money is involved.  But it is also expensive to exercise.  We bought a treadmill and then rewired the basement in order to support a T.V., Dvd player, and Stereo.  I get bored with running so Andy and I decided to buy T.V series to watch.  I had seen in fliers lately that my favorite show while growing up was now on DVD.  Remington Steele.   It keeps me running.  I barely remember most of the episodes, but it reminded me of a time when I wanted to be the next Laura Holt or Nancy Drew.   I get about 8000 steps for one episode.  Not a bad trade-off.

Growing Up

My mother just made me take home a bunch of my old papers and art projects from elementary school. I started going through it last night throwing away a bunch of stuff. It was kind of sad, yet cathartic. It made me feel old and made me laugh a lot. According to one art project that I made in first grade, kangroos drink pepsi. Its also amusing on how much I say I love my mother when I was in elementary school and then when I get to middle school and high school I wanted nothing to do with her.

No more Cracks

I can’t believe it. Manufacturers are finally starting to make womans pants that actually fit normal women. No more hip-huggers or low risers. I finally am finding pants that don’t make me think I am fat. I’ve been saying for years, who are these clothes made for? If they want to sell clothes, pissing off the consumer is not the way to go. Lee jeans, they are the only ones I have found so far. But that means other designers will not be too far behind!

Sweet Tooth

Easter is my favorite holiday for one very important reason. Chicks, Ducks and Bunnies.  As in Sweettarts Chicks, Ducks and Bunnies.  I am a self-proclaimed Sweettarts afficiando.  For some reason (my best friend and I think its gotta be the shapes) they just taste so much better.  The hearts at Valentines day are okay, but they seem a little too sweet.  Normal everday Sweettarts in the shape of circles, just seem to tart.  I should know, I eat about a bag or roll a month.  Of course that does exclude the blue ones.  I don’t know if its my allegiance to the original colors, or if I just don’t like fruit punch candy, but I can not stand them.  So I share those colors with my best friend, Brenda and sister, Lisa.  This is now well known by everyone who was at my wedding since they happily past the blue Sweettart eating onto Andy.  But I know deep down, they miss all those blue Sweettarts.  I know I would if I were them!

Interior Decorating

When I was growing up, I never thought I would be the person that would decorate the house for holidays. Now that I’m older and married and a homeowner, it just feels weird if I don’t decorate. I never realized how much an Easter Basket or a snowman can really put one in the mood for the upcoming holiday. Funny thing though, I’ve never really bought any decorations myself. I only have Easter and Christmas, guess I will have to go shopping!! Oh darn.

New Orleans Cuisine

Tonight Andy is going to try to make jambalaya with homemade creole seasoning. For some reason he doesn’t think we would use Creole seasoning that much. The seasoning is really simple to make, 1/4 cup salt, 3 TBSP garlic powder, 3 TBSP ground black pepperm 1/8 teaspoon ground cayane pepper to taste and 1 TBSP paprika and use mix and put in a bottle. I have never had Jambalaya, but the picture looks interesting. I agreed to having it before I realized there was shrimp, of which I am not a fan of. So it will be interesting to see if I like it.

Jambalaya

2 cups Chicken Broth

1 TBSP homemade Creole Seasoning

1 large green pepper,

1 large onion, diced

1 can diced tomatoes

1 pound Andullie saugage, diced

1 pd chicken (cuz I like chicken)

1 pound uncooked regular long grain rice

1/2 pound medium shrimp.

Mix all but shrimp for together in 4 qt slow cooker for 4-5 hours on high.

Add shrimp. Cover and cook for about 40 minutes until done.

Red, Red Wine

So following the book “You the Owners Manual” I have been drinking 1-1 1/2 glasses of wine a day. The first wine I took a liking to was Ecco Domani Pinot Grigo. That lasted about 3 years. Now I like Rose Wine, especially “Concha Y Toro” Rose Wine. I don’t know if they are no longer selling it, but $3.00 a bottle for good wine, I cannot argue with. But then again, if I am arguing with a bottle of wine, I’ve probably had too much. :)
