Big Decision

Today at work, my supervisor sent out an email asking to see who would be interested in working at home.  I have went back and forth with myself and my husband about whether or not I should do this.  Right now, I am given a lot of opportunity at work.  I know part of the reason is because I am in the office and available for extra responsibility.  I have gotten raises that are more than reasonable.  I was just worried if I did make it known that I want to go home, that I would no longer get the opportunities.   But, the conversation of children in our future has been almost a daily conversation.  I want to be at home for my kids if we can manage it.  If I can work from home and still raise children, that would be ideal.  So I finally decided to put my name on the list.  They said its not really in the foreseeable future, but it could be.  I have the quality and my supervisor loves me.  So hopefully, I will be a work at home soon.

Five for Fighting

I actually know what that means.  It is a penalty in hockey–5 minutes for fighting.  The reason I know that is because one of Andy’s friends is engaged to a hockey player.  Oh and because its a name of a band.  Its funny that a sports game has a timeout.  I wonder if a mother made up that rule!  I do know more about it than I used to. I think its a fun sport to watch, I just don’t like that it can end in a tie. I would like to go see a hockey game sometime, I’ve heard it can be a blast.

I think for the fiancee’s birthday, if we were to get him a gift, it would be pretty easy to find something for him at Hockeyoverstock.com.  The cool thing is just buy going to the site and entering in promotional code: ppp001107, you can get 5% off your order.  Not only can you get apparel, you can also get equipment for the game.  I like the great low prices.  I am a bargain shopper, I do not like to buy anything if it is not on sale.  Just by glancing at the prices for hockey skates, they seem to be priced reasonably.  I actually found some tee-shirts that I would wear bumming around.

What I learned from TV

On the drive home from the in-laws, we saw men in the median of the highway working on Friday.  My first thought was do they get holiday pay.  Then I saw what they were doing.  They had hoses and were spraying green on the dirt.  I actually know what they were doing and it excited me.  I learned it from Mike Rowe.  You know, Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe.  Anyway, the reason they were doing it was to fight erosion–pretty much the green stuff was glue to hold the hill together.  Who ever said you can’t learn anything from television?

Black Friday

I am sitting here waiting for my husband to get out of the shower at 4:30 in the morning to go shopping.  Yes, I am one of those nuts people.  I do not know why I like it so much, I think its the sales.  We are not crazy like my sister and going to Best Buy at 3 in the morning.  I just want to hit up Kohl’s, Circuit City and maybe Target.  Then come back home and go to sleep.  For some reason, I am so far behind on Christmas shopping.  I only have my Grandma and Andy’s mom done.  I do not even really know what we are getting at the stores, but I do have some ideas.   But I do know I will be closer to be done shopping by the end of morning today.

10-1

I can’t believe it.  I actually watched a Packer game and they won.  I got a little worried at the beginning when they didn’t start off too good against the Detriot Lions, but the Packers came back.  I think what actually did help is that I fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the fourth so they could hold onto the win.  But still, I don’t like football.  I would rather spend time reading or surfing the Internet, or blogging!  But I do like to watch Brett Favre.  He just looks like he’s having a great time, smiling all the time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love that this Thanksgiving we get to spend it with both families.  We drove to Minnesota last night and are driving back to Green Bay tomorrow.  Both of his brothers are here, which is really nice because one of them lives out of the country.  Today will probably be the relaxing day, seeing is we slept in until 9.  But none of that tomorrow.  I have to continue my Black Friday experience.  I do not have much Christmas shopping done and I have to perouse the ads today.  I know I have to get flannel shirts, movie passes, and maybe even some equestrian riding apparel.  The best thing about Minnesota is that the clothing–no taxes.  When we get home on Saturday, I am doing more shopping, this time with my mother and sister and then I am spending the rest of the day being a good aunt.

Yesterday I was thinking of how much harder these trips are going to be when we have kids.  Like last nights unexpected extra hour of traveling.  You know how many cars we passed that had the DVD player built in.  I think its a good idea.  I always get bored on car rides.  I may even buy one for myself!  If there is a good deal, of course!

Long Drive

Oh  wow, the drive to Andy’s parents took forever tonight.  Normally, the drive from Green Bay to St. Cloud, MN takes about 5 and a half hours.  This time it took about 7 hours.  The worst thing is we made it to St Paul in about 4 hours.  Due to rubbernecking and it being the first snowfall the normal 1 to 1 and a half drive took 3 hours.  I love my husband, I really do, but being stuck in a car with him in the dark, sometimes gets really old.  We did get to his parents safely, so that is a good thing.

Satin Sheets

I love satin sheets.  A couple of months ago, they were on sale at Shopko for about $17.99.  I have heard lots of stuff about satin sheets so Andy and I decided to a couple.  Since I haven’t changed our sheets in awhile, I decided to open up a new package.  If you ever get a chance, buy some.  They are awesome to sleep on.  They aren’t as slippery as they make them out to be in the movies, but they do make it easy to move around.  The thing I hate is that my pillow always moves.   I almost want to put velcro and attach the pillow to the bed.  But here is a picture of the sheets.

Overdose

I was just reading an article on AOL about Dennis Quaid’s new twins.  They were admitted to the Neonatal ICU because a nurse at Cedar Sinai accidentally gave them 10,000 units of Heparin (an anti-coagulant) instead of the normal 10 units because the medicine was in the wrong place.  The babies are stable right now, but man, how do you not look at the medicine you are giving someone.  According to the article, there are 13 other patients who have also been overdosed with the Heparin.  Lets just hope that everyone is okay.

Freeze It

I have been friends with my best friend for over 22 years now. Andy says we share a brain, which sometimes I think we do. Ever since I have known her, she has been afflicted with juvinille rhemotoid arthritis. They think she may have gotten it from a kidney infection when she was 2 or 3. Living in Wisconsin in the winter for all those years, really hurts her. Not only then, it also happens when she gets cold. I think growing up she would down a bottle of Bayer every couple of days for the pain, per doctors orders.

208.JPG I remember one time when we were about 10 or 11 and she had come camping with my family. After a hot day of swimming, we were bored and decided to go minature golfing. My mom and cousin came to watch from the outside to cheer us on. Actually probably just to keep an eye on us, but in my young mind I didn’t like to be babied. Anyways, as we were playing, it started to get a little chilly. All of a sudden, she just froze. Her joints were so sore she couldn’t even walk anymore. My mom had to run and get my dad to carry her back to the camper.

The arthritis went away for awhile, sat dormant through most of her teen years, but once she turned 19, it came back. I love the fact she has never let the arthritis keep her down, she even walked in Walk America when it was really long like 12 miles. I walked with her and even though we were the last people and she had to be carried over the finish line, I have never been so proud. She bartends which probably doesn’t help her joints in her hands either. And the being a massage therapist also puts strains on her muscles. Winning a supply of Freeze It would really help her relax when she isn’t working.

There really is no cure for arthritis so I know she is always looking for something new to try to see if it works. I think she would find some use in Freeze It Gel. It sounds like it could help a little bit with the joint pain. She is very openminded and I think if it got rid of the pain for even a couple hours, she would try it. It would help with her sore muscles, her joint pain and back pain. I would love to take the pain away from her. She is a strong person though. I am proud to be her friend. Just look and see what Freeze it can do for you:
