New Obsession

I hate when there are marathons of shows on television. Its like its a trick to get me sit around all day and watch a show when it keeps going and going and going.  This time, on TLC, the show is Jon & Kate plus 8.   They have one set of twins (6 yrs old) and one set of sextuplets (3 years old).  The Jon (dad) works full-time and Kate (mom) is a stay at home mom.  The show follows their lives which seems hectic at times.  The thing I love is that Kate tries to make it as normal for possible for her kids.  They go to amusement parks, parades, farms, etc.  Even though she knows what a hassle it can be-logistically, emotionally, time constraints, they still manage to be a normal family.

One thing I do find weird, as does Jon (the dad), the mom takes a picture of her children and their first poop.  I guess when she says its a memory, it is, but who are you going to show these pictures to?  Their first dates? He he. I wonder how expensive it is going to be when they start going to college and getting married.  But that is probably to far off for them to even think about now.

I admire that for 10 people, Kate tries to keep the shopping bill down to $150.00 and gets it done during the kids nap-time.  Oh, and the fact that they buy a half cow for meat that will probably last them a year.  She wants her kids to eat healthy, so she is not going to go for the cheapest stuff.  She goes for the nutritional value and still keeps it under $150.00 by clipping coupons and getting rain-checks.

If you haven’t seen this show, its actually pretty interesting.  Its given me some ideas on parenting.  It makes my husband not want kids (the sextuplets cry a lot!).  Its interesting to see these kids growing up on television.
