Tutoring

At work right now, one of my duties is to converting for drugs to correct metrics.  I wish I would have pressured my parents on looking into tutoring when I was in high school.  I was never really good at math.  I never really thought I would have to use algebra after high school.

I had to take a few math classes in college to graduate and I would have likes some online tutoring for college math.  The basics I always understood, but I think maybe I didn’t understand enough in K-12.  I think I understood enough to do the homework, but not enough to really understand what was going on.

I know when I have children, that if they have problems or need Homework Help I will look into Tutorvista.  It is a reasonable monthly price with no limit to how often the students need the use the service.  It is also available 24/7 hours, so when the students procrastinate they will be able to get help when needed.

Appreciative Coaching

One thing I always wanted to do was write a book. Sarah Orem, a teacher at capella university has written a book on Appreciative Coaching. The techniques in the book use a positive approach to questioning and encouraging. They focus on the human element and choose to inspire for change based on the individuals strenghths. The book is aimed at managers, executive and or those that promote change. I wonder if the managers of insurance company I work for have read this book. We are going through a lot of change right now, back to the company we once were with “Perfect Service.” But its hard because people are so used to doing what they are doing and are not embracing the change.

Moving

When Andy and I were looking for a house we used a buyer’s agent, which is was the best thing we could do. A buyer’s agent works for the buyer, with no extra cost to us. The thing I liked about that was that he could walk into a house and legally tell us to walk out and its not worth it. If we were to buy beaufort nc real estate, we would for sure use a realtor.

Venpar

One of my friends is thinking of starting a business.  Only problem is she doesn’t have the funding for it.  I found this site Venpar and thought that it may be helpful to her.  Venpar helps provide “private equity” for information technology companies.  I like when a website gives you all the information you need.  It starts with giving you their beliefs.  They are helpful because they are a business for profit and take the emotional and physical aspects out of picking stocks.   Its the truth when they say the market are inefficent because many investors do not act rationally.  I love a site when they give you a glossary too.  For some people investing and stocks are way over their head, like me.   The first step is submitting an action plan.  Hopefully this site is helpful to her.

Masterseek

So I found this new website, masterseek, which is a business search engine. It sounds like a great website to review for profiles of companies and to find the company websites. It looks to me like they have links to about any industry you can think of in many different languages.

I searched for my brother in laws company in Germany and it came up. Now I can read what exactly his company does. All I know, is its something to do with paper. Its also cool to imagine that there are actually over 45 million companies that Masterseek has the tools to help find them all.
