Growing up, you think your parents know everything. As you grow up though, you realize your parents do not know as much as you think they do–at least not with technology. I had a phone conversation with my dad the other day while he was trying to do some full color printing but was having issues with his computer linking to the printer. Personally, I have no idea how to fix this either. But I offered our computer and printer for my father if he knew how to email the attachment to himself. I tried explaining this to my mother–but realized as soon as I said attachment, she was lost. I want my baby to smart, but I do not know if I can handle him ever knowing more than I do.

So, I have been a little absent lately. Partly it is because I had a broken laptop and couldnt bring myself to use a—gasp–desktop computer. I do not know if it was because it was just getting to the end of time–the battery kept on dying after only being unplugged for about 10 minutes. Then about a month ago, the screen stopped working. The computer itself works–we know by hooking it up to the TV. But we asked Office Depot–they said it would cost about a grand to fix. Umm, no. Id rather get a new one for half the price. I never thought of Office Depot for buying a computer–but it was pretty good deal. $429–I couldnt pass that up!

A couple of months ago (I’m being very lenient on a couple of months), somehow one of our hard drives got corrupted. We are not sure what exactly happened, but from what I hear, the websites for downloading music could have something to do with it. My husband knows a little about computers (or claims he does) and tried to fix it himself. Somehow, he wiped one of the drives. The drive with the pictures (ironically he had just moved it that drive) and my resume. My resume was perfect and now I have to take the time to find resume templatesto try to update it and have it on file. He was mostly worried about the honeymoon pictures though. Luckily, I had put them on Snapfish a couple on months earlier so we had hard copies. I don’t like just having pictures on computers, I don’t think about them as much and don’t showcase them as much as I like to.

So every payday, I have been trying to buy something we need. Last paycheck, we bought curtains for our back room. Right now our backroom is our tv room, but eventually when we decide to have kids, we are changing the TV room into our room. The only reason for that is because I do not want a baby room with a patio door. Next week, though we are buying something that doesn’t really seem like its for the house but it is–an usb flash drive and an external hard drive. We need both for the computer because we seem to keep having problems with our computer and stuff getting erased.

I love this thing called the internet. I do not know how what I would do without it sometimes. I would have to actually ask real people to answer my questions. I saw someone yesterday the other day with a lunch bag that said something about “Information Technolgies–we put the GUI in guidance.” I knew this had to be some sort of joke that only someone in IT would know. It bothered me so much I had to look it up on the internet immediately. I guess its the online enviroment where a program in which a program operates. It almost makes me think that there’s could be a saying for CAT5e that I wouldn’t get either!

While visiting Andy’s brother, we had all sorts of conversations about different things. I thought it was amusing every time some topic came up and we didn’t know the answer, his brother would say check Wikipedia. I have a feeling he checks it often. But then we were talking about what we would do without the Internet. Right now, his wife is going to school in Maryland and he’s in Germany. They keep in contact with email and Skype. I don’t know if I could that. But also the internet helps him keep in contact with his family. I just wish Andy would email him more. But Andy’s not a phone person nor computer person, so he says. I remember a time when we didn’t have the Internet, which seems so strange. I remember when you wanted the lyrics to a song, you had to listen to the song and write them down if the lyrics weren’t in the disc jacket. Or if you needed a recipe, you needed to find a book or go to the library for the recipe. Or if you wanted to keep in contact with someone you had to write a letter.

I still am getting some really strange emails lately. At work, I had a site asking if my dick was having problems ejaculating. Well I went right to my supervisor and said I did not do this, I’m just deletling it. We think the firewall was down and it read I had went to Virginlifecare.com which is for my health (logging my pedometer steps). Lately though, I have been getting emails about colon cleanser. I have never considered it before, but I won’t say I will never.
