WIIcked

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about this yet.  Last Friday, Andy and I bought a Wii.  We were just planning on looking at it, seeing the price, the accessories and games.  We stopped at Circuit City –who didn’t have any and really had no clue when.  They also said there is a line out the door for them so you have to get there early to get one.  We decided to stop at Best Buy just to see and they actually had one.  Since I am an impulsive buyer, we bought it with some accessories.  The reason we decided to actually buy one is that our work will reimburse us for it because it is an exercise tool and promotes family time.  We only ended up paying $30.00.  We have another oppurtuinity to make $60.00 each so with that money we are going to buy Wii fit.  I love it already and want more accessories and more games. I know we need memory cards. Andy wants Tiger Woods Golf, but I told him he has to wait.  But its nice that I’ll be able to find stuff to put on his Xmas list.   I should probably start that soon!  Its less than 6 months away!

Good Kids

The other day, I heard this story on the radio where a nine year old was just getting up from a nap and heard her mother screaming from the other room.  The nine-year-old called 911 and the cops came.  But come to find out, Mommy and Daddy were just fine in the other room, just getting friendly.  Its a funny story, but you really hope it doesn’t happy to you.  It’s not like the kid did anything wrong.  But then it also makes sure the birds and bees talk needs to be done real soon!

Seriously??

I am just getting sooooo overwhelmed right now. I was downstairs doing a load of laundry and I notice a little wet spot on the floor. Now, it looks like our toilet is leaking or something. Thankfully, its Sunday night and thankfully we both have very flexible schedules, but I don’t want to be working overtime for the rest of my life. It seems like I don’t need any Phentermine to lose weight, I just need more house problems to stress me out. So here’s my question—-bad things come in threes—is this the third? I thought I had all threes, but I guess I was wrong.

Who Cares?

Living in Green Bay these last few weeks, has been really annoying. All you hear about when you turn the TV on is “Is Brett Favre really retiring?” Seriously, it makes Green Bay look like the Packers are our lives. Really, it’s not. If Favre retires, fine. If he comes back, fine. Just don’t spend weeks talking about it without any real story or sources! Today, we got a phone call stating they were polling all of Green Bay about Favre returning or not. My mother just hung up. I took the survey, but I really don’t care one way or another. But we will see, but no matter what, I still won’t care once the season comes around again. Football is football–I’d rather be shopping!

Honeymoon’s Over

Andy’s friend who got married about 3 weeks ago has decided to take a 6-8 week job in Iowa. He’s an union electrician and he figured he’d be out of work soon, so since he heard about a job in Iowa for 6-8 weeks, he left this morning. I really want to know what his new wife thinks about it. At least the wedding is over, but they haven’t really been enjoying married life yet. Andy and I still are, but we are strange like that. But I guess, it is going to be a lot of money. The only money he will be spending is on hotel and food. It’s not like he’s going to be staying in any Hilton Head rentals. Hopefully, he’s smart enough to bring his wife something back! I’m just glad Andy’s job doesn’t make him travel. I love spending time with my husband.

Moms Say the Darndest Things

My mother never ceases to amaze me. On the 4th, we were listening to a band at my cousin’s bar and my mother kept telling me she didn’t know the song. A Third Eye Blind song came on and I leaned over to tell her that she didn’t know the song. Her response, “You don’t know that, I could have heard it on E-bay.” I looked at her and said E-bay—she realized she said something wrong so she said “Maybe I have their record.” I remember records, I doubt that there is a Third Eye Blind records sitting at my parents house. It’s hard enough to find some CDs now days since there are no music stores around anymore. So I quipped back “Not their eight track?” I can be a cocky daughter.

Eye for an Eye

Since my insurance just renewed this month, I need to start making my appointments. I just had my yearly and now I am thinking about getting my eyes checked out. It has been a long time since I got my eyes checked and I already have reading glasses, but I know I am due for some more. I just wish they were not so expensive. I may have to check out zennioptical.com. They keep the prices down by taking out the middleman and directing serving the customer. I like dealing directly with the manufacturer. You know who to go to if something goes wrong or know who to thank if it is perfect.

They have a huge selection of frames, which is good, because I think eye glasses frames do really tell a lot about a person. You have to find a pair of glasses that fit your personality. Plus they have low prices, so that in itself, will lead me to the site.

Old Married Couples

For the 4th of July, Andy and I decided to take it pretty easy. He went golfing with my dad in the morning, while I had all intentions of cleaning. Instead, I sat down to a good book. I was doing laundry at the same time, so for me, that counts as attempting to clean. Once he got back, we decided to do some weeding in the garden. Normally, we go rollerblading downtown, where all the festivities are. This year, we just felt like relaxing. My cousin owns a right near downtown and had invited us down for free dinner–burgers and brats. We are not ones to turn away free food. My parents were down there too, so it was nice and relaxing. Another couple we hang out with met us at the bar and we walked downtown into the midst of probably half of Green Bay citizen, more than half drunk. We hung out there for about 40 minutes–I wanted an overpriced warm pretzel for some reason and then headed back to the bar. They let us on the roof to watch the fireworks, which was a great spot. Of course, they let some of their unruly friends up too, who ended up throwing a cup of beer over the side of the building. The guy thought it was funny, the person they hit did not, and neither did we. That could have caused serious trouble for my cousin. By 10 o’clock the fireworks were done, and I was ready to go home and climb straight into bed. So was the other couple we hung out with (and they have only been married 2 weeks), but I still think we are old married couples now. And there is nothing wrong with that!

To Kiss a Bride

Last night, we had a wedding for one of Andy’s friends.  Hopefully, this is the last summer we have a bunch of weddings.  I think it will be because most of our friends are married.  The thing that I think will make this wedding memorable is the reception.  If you’ve ever been to a wedding, the tradition is to clink the glasses to make the bride and groom kiss.   This sound irritates me to no end which is why for my wedding, we had people sing a song with love in.  It gives you more chances to eat, if you have a shy crowd.  Well, this wedding went one step further.  In order to have the bride and groom kiss, you had to swallow a goldfish.

I guess it all depends on the crowd, because this did not stop this crowd.  Two guys were sitting with each had 3 and the grooms father had four.  But about half way through dinner, the fish disappeared.   The reception hall pulled the fish–people were supposedly getting sick from either watching them swallow the fish or the people actually swallowing the fish.  But very interesting concept.  I wonder if this would only happen in Green Bay.

Flower Power

Before I met my husband, I had no idea what flower was what. I knew my parents had annoying plant in front of their house that attracted ants–but didn’t know the name. ( I guess they are peonies) I knew daisies, sunflowers, roses and carnations. But that is as far as my flower knowledge went.
My hubby loves flowers. He has actually gotten me to love lilies–which are now my favorite.  I want to fill our whole yard with them.  See how pretty they are:
