Sunday Expenses

Game day Sundays are expensive. Not because we go to the games, its because Andy leaves to watch the games at a friend’s house–I, in turn, go shopping! So it’s my husband’s fault. But today I have offically started Xmas shopping! I think all the kids we buy for are almost done–just need to get the toys to go along with the clothes. I try to balance it out for the kids because I know how much I hated just getting clothes.

Relive Your youth

There was a story in the paper today about a 33 year old woman who posed as a high school student for the first day of school. Not only did she go to the first day of school, she also tried out for the cheerleading squad—and made it. How’d she do it? She took her daughter’s identity who lives in another state. She was picked up on separate fraud charges, but a flag was raised when she didn’t show up after the first day of classes. At least we know the truancy office pays attention! If I was her daughter, I would have DNA testing to determine if I was really her daughter. Her only excuse was that she wanted to relive her youth! WOW!

Two to go!

Woo-hoo! One couch is gone–one of the biggest that was in the basement. We found out it fits perfectly in the back of a minivan–who knew! After the guy left with his free couch, I walked downstairs and was amazed with how much room there is down there now. One more down there and then the one in the living room. I am pretty sure no one is going to want our living room one. It’’s seen better times. But I am excited. We are probably rearranging the spare bedroom this weekend, so I’ll be busy!

Free Couches

In trying to declutter our house, we decided to give away 3 couches and a chair.  We put up a sign at work a couple days ago, but only one slip has been taken.  Its not like we are trying to put a bus for sale. You’d think people would know someone who needs a free couch! Only catch is, the person has to come get it. Otherwise, I think we are just going to put them on the curb and hope we don’t get charged by the garbage men for taking them away. But we did have a message when I got home from work, so if we at least get rid of one, I will be happy.

Overdrive

Well, I am hooked. I took more overtime this week. I really do not remember what a 40 hour work week really feels like. I may even have to work on Saturday this week, since my uncle died on Saturday. The only thing that makes it bearable to work so many hours is that I can listen to my MP3 player. But I have been having a beef with it lately. It seems to play the same 12 songs in a day–that’s the beef I have with the radio. Sure, if I wanted to take the time, I could make some play lists, but I like random selection. I just don’t get that when I have 444 songs, why it keeps playing the same ones over and over. I have considered getting some audio books, but I am worried about what I would pay more attention to. I am able to multitask, just not multifunction sometimes. I have issues with walking and drinking at the same time. Scratch that, I sometimes have issues walking–those cracks seem to always what to trip me! There are two books I know I would love to listen to–”Measure of a Man” by Sidney Portier and Ellen Degennere’s book. I know, I have strange tastes!

Trash Day

With summer ending, the weekends are really starting to be lazy. I haven’t gotten a lot of steps, but I do feel like we have accomplished a bunch. We did a little cleaning down stairs. We decided to throw out a really old tv, a couple of lamps, a tv stand and some various other items. Within about 20 minutes of putting on the curb, a couple lamps were gone. We also noticed, the garbage pickers had snagged the cord from the 2 lamps they left and the tv. Then when we brought another load of garbage to the curb, the tv was now gone. I’m glad we put all that out early while the pickers were still out! It’s not like the stuff was bad, but we just don’t need it anymore and have been having problems with Goodwill not wanting to take stuff. Plus, we don’t know when the next time we are going to have a rummage sale is, since to really have a good rummage sale–you need kids things.

Visual Insanity

I am a very visual person. I can’t imagine things easily without seeing them in front on my face. I have been working a lot of overtime in the last 2 years and since February, I decided to put a picture on my screen at work to motivate me. In February, I put a picture of Prius to motivate me. That was when I started working 15 hours overtime. Not a fan of that! Within a week, we had the Prius. Last week, I put a picture of a toilet–which got some really strange look from my coworkers. By the end of that week, we had bought the toilet. So two things are happening here, the visual is helping remind what I am working for and also seems to speed up the buying of things. Maybe I need to put a picture of a purse for me!

Black Friday

Is it wrong that I am already thinking of shopping on Black Friday?  As of right now, I am way behind on my shopping.  I only have one gift bought.  I really need to start thinking of gifts.  One thing I am debating on waiting until Black Friday for is our LCD screen and LCD mount. I know if we get up real early we will be able to get a good deal, but we are also going to be in St. Cloud visiting my inlaws. Plus we are using gift cards that we have to order a couple of weeks before and we won’t know the deals until probably the week of. Maybe I will spend part of the weekend shopping. I want to get at least one person out of the way!

New Challenge

A couple of my co-workers and I have decided to have a walking challenge.  I need something to get me off my butt, and they do too.  They are both work at home and they both needed a challenge.  I thought it was going to be a breeze to stay on top, but actually right now I am having to work hard to stay on top.  They asked me how they could get more steps, I said when they get up to use the bathroom, walk around the house.  One of them took it literally–she will get up, walk outside, around the house and then back inside to use the bathroom.  She says her husband laughs at her.  But really, its all fun and helping us stay healthy.  And you can’t forget making us money.  She wants a Wii, so I am trying to help both of them make money.  Right now Andy and I are at $800.  We are going to buy a flat screen TV soon!

90210 Revisited

The most popular zip code has been invaded again.  Tonight was the series premiere of 90210.  The show has the same premise as it did so many years ago.  A family moves from the Midwest to Beverly Hills and are brought into a whole new world.  The kids in Beverly Hills are not worried about acne treatments or braces–they are worried about parties and flying to San Francisco for a date on a school night. At this point, I do not know if I like the show. The characters are new, but I keep comparing them to the original characters. Speaking of the original characters, I really do think it adds to the show that they brought back Kelly and Brenda–and who can forget Nat at the Peach Pit. I still do not know who the show is supposed to appeal to because they show the parents and adults almost as much as the kids, so I wonder if it will make it. I kind of hope it does to see who else they bring back. I have heard that Luke Perry stated he would not come back, but for me, I really hate when people refuse to show homage to what made them famous. But that’s just me. I think I will give this show another chance.
