Its Been awhile

Wow, having a new baby really takes time. That is why I haven’t been blogging as much. We have been soooo busy. Gabe had eye surgery to help his clogged duct (which worked), just got over a double ear infection and possible RSV. Gabe enjoyed his first Xmas–getting lots of toys–including a trainset that he won’t be able to use for about 2 years! He is almost walking—lets go of the couch and balances for about 4 seconds before landing on his butt!
Bad news is my company is laying off people. My husband nor I were in the first wave. But a couple of my coworkers are. They are taking it a lot better than I think I would. But I guess we will just wait and see and keep buying those lottery tickets!

Pound a Week

This morning I weighed myself hoping that I had lost a few more pounds. According to our scale, I have lost 1.7 pounds in a week. I can really see the weight coming off slowing. And the best thing is I do not have to use diet pills. Not that I could right now since I am breast feeding. I probably could lose a few more pounds, but I am haing a tendency to eat a lot and rationalizing I am still eating for two. Oh the way a woman’s mind works!

A Day of Relaxation

My husband gets major points for his anniversary gift for me. He took off work on Friday so I could go for a massage and facial. He even got up with the baby for the first feeding in the morning to let me sleep a little. I guess he does realize it is not easy staying home with the baby. My favorite part of the massage was when I told the massuese that I had just had a baby one month earlier. She said I looked great. I guess I don’t have to use any diet supplements. I think I will just concentrate on eating healthy and doing some easy exercise. The bad thing, for my husband–not me, is that I could get so addicted to it and it’s not cheap. But the knots in my back have been loosened and my face feels so soft. I look forward to the next time.

Happy Anniversary

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary with my husband Andy. I feel bad that I didn’t get Andy anything, but I’ve kind of been busy taking care of Gabe. We only have one base for the carseat (which is in Andy’s car) as of right now, so I cannot get out during the day. Then, by the time Andy gets home, I just want to sleep or get some cleaning done. Andy, on the other hand, actually got me a card and took off work on Friday. He told me to make an appointment for a massage and facial on Friday and to do anything I want that day. He will watch Gabe. Of course, I will be doing a bunch of stuff for Gabe’s baptism, but it is still getting me out of the house. I couldn’t bring myself to spend too much on myself so I am only having a 30 minute massage and 30 minute facial which is going to come to $70. Andy said not to worry about the price, but I am not going to spend over a $100 on myself and have nothing to show for it.

Should Have Told Me

There were a lot of things I was looking forward to getting back to normal after having Gabe. The big one was getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight. The other one was getting back my bladder control. No one ever told me that the bladder control would take awhile, if it ever came back the same as it was before. I am afraid to watch funny movies without wearing adult diapers for fear of peeing myself. I guess I will just have to concentrate on doing my Kegel’s. The other thing I want is control of my emotions again. I think that is something Andy wants too. I am so much more senstive than I used to be. What he could say to me before, doesn’t fly, especially after a long day with a crying baby. Oh the joys of motherhood.

One of the books I got for my shower was the “The Rookie Mom’s Handbook.” Basically it is a checklist of stuff I should do each week/month. One thing that it suggests is to make sure to get out of the house at least once a day–even if its just a trip to the store for milk. One of my favorite tips is that it tells the rookie mom to go out and buy a new pair of jeans. My favorite part is that it tells the mother not to pay attention to the size because the jeans will only be interim jeans. Especially when the mother is using breast feeding as their weight loss products. I have now almost lost all my pregnancy weight of 30 pounds. I hope to lose about 20 more in the next few months in order to get to a more healthy weight. I want to be around for a long time for my baby. I need to start eating healthy and working out.

Back to the Scale

I went to the doctor’s office today and I think I am at the point where I need to stop looking at the scale. I have put about 25 pounds on with this pregnancy. Although I know most is baby, I am still a little stressed about getting the baby weight off. I am wondering if I am going to have to look into diet pills or if just nursing is going to help lose the weight. I do no know why I feel so fat, at least my husband is trained enough that he says “Honey, you’re not fat, you’re pregnat.” I just want the weight to come off very quick.

Time To Rest

I am so tired. This week, Andy and I both had doctors appointments which caused really strange hours at work. What made matters worse is Andy started the week with a sinus infection. Guess who is ending the week under the weather? Me of course. We just worked a 10 hour day to make up hours we missed and I should not have done that to myself. Being pregnant and starting to get sick is really getting to me. I almost want to get a reservation at a Westgate to just relax all weekend. Of course, I do not see me wanting to go swimming. Right now, a swimsuit isn’t really my choice wardrobe.

Losing the Extra Weight

A lot of people think it is so hard to lose weight and sometimes have to turn to weight lose drugs. There is nothing wrong with safe drugs like Ephadrasil hardcore, but it is not something I would try. I would rather follow the lead of a girl I went to high school with. Ever since we little, she was always on the heavier side. About 2 years ago, she weighed in at about 400 pounds. Her sister-in-law asked her to walk in the Bellin Run (a 6.2 mile walk/run) that year. She decided to start excerising and in about a year lost 160 pounds. Her goal was to run/walk the Bellin in under an hour. She just made it–but she didn’t stop. She continued excerising every morning and sticking to a strict diet. She is now down to 160 pounds, she no longer has high blood pressure, and is off of most of the medication that she was on when she was obese. She wants to reach 130 and she will be happy with that weight. I know if I have the stamina that she has, hopefully the pregnancy weight (when I actually start gaining it) will come off easily.

Hunting Humans

As you may know, at work we have this thing through Virgin Health Miles, where the more steps we walk, the more money we make. I recently got some of my coworkers as addicted to it as I am. One of the girls wanted to buy a bow and sent an email to the company asking if she could use the money to purchase the bow. They responded with as long as one of the vendors offers the bow, she can get a bow. But she must abide by laws for hunting. The the last sentence was what really struck her so she had to share. They said they do not condone hunting of humans and would not be held accountable if she were to hunt humans. Did they really have to come out and say that? I would think that’s a given. But maybe, nowadays, they have to make sure to cover their butts.
