Recalculating Karen

Andy’s parents just got a GPS for their car, a TomThumb, I think.  I know my sister just purchased one on Black Friday.  Even though they knew where they were going, they used it to see how it works.  Andy set it up so the voice that speaks is Australian English-named Karen.  Well, it started to become a game when we would have Karen recalculate the route when we wouldn’t take a turn she wanted to.  I would so do that with a GPS.  I guess Chris, Andy’s brother, went to the grocery store with the GPS (American English-Jill) and the Jill wasn’t aware that there was a new bridge and thought Chris had driven into the water.   I think its actually quite helpful gift.  I can see why they were pushing them this year.  Plus a guy never has to leave the car for directions.  I would like this because I never know where I am when I am driving.  It helps find restaurants and movie theaters and so much more.  Plus theirs has a mp3 player. Andy doesn’t think we need one since he always knows where he is going.

Tis The Season

I lied yesterday by accident.  I said I was done Christmas shopping and my husband sighed with relief, or shall I say our bank account sighed with relief.  Until I realized I had one more gift to buy.  But it ended up working out for the best.  I went to Kohl’s (my favorite store) with my $10 off coupon.  I found a sweater for my aunt and went to check out.  The sweater was normally like $30.00 on sale for $20.00 so I was expecting to pay only $10.00.  It ended up being free.  The guy at the register said the computer is ringing up $0.00 so you get it for $0.00.  Isn’t that sweet?

Hawaiian is A Color

That is, according to my husband.  It doesn’t matter what spectrum color it is, they are all described as Hawaiian’s.  I married the guy, but that doesn’t mean I really understand him at all. :)  I just recently moved his Hawaiian shirts into the closet in the spare room because most of them aren’t really work appropriate.

There are exceptions.  The beach wedding attire shirts are nice enough to wear to work.  I love the handstiching detail on the shirts.  You can just feel the time and effort that went into making the shirts.  Andy would love to fill a whole closet full of these shirts.  When we went to a party yesterday, everyone commented on the shirt and how nice it looked.

I was going to be sneaky when the oppurtunity to try a shirt came up and just order one for Andy and give it to him for Christmas.  But there was one problem, so many choices to choose from.  There were like 9 or 10 shirt colors and then 9 or 10 embroidery colors.  Plus all the different styles.  It made my head hurt, so I just had him pick so I he would get something he would want and enjoy.  Just look at his face, you think he likes the shirt?

Satin Sheets

I love satin sheets.  A couple of months ago, they were on sale at Shopko for about $17.99.  I have heard lots of stuff about satin sheets so Andy and I decided to a couple.  Since I haven’t changed our sheets in awhile, I decided to open up a new package.  If you ever get a chance, buy some.  They are awesome to sleep on.  They aren’t as slippery as they make them out to be in the movies, but they do make it easy to move around.  The thing I hate is that my pillow always moves.   I almost want to put velcro and attach the pillow to the bed.  But here is a picture of the sheets.

Biotene Toothpaste

Today when I was at the store ( I was doing retail therapy, my husband wasn’t helping me clean at the exact moment I wanted to so I went shopping to relieve some stress.)  Anyway, I was walking by toothpaste aisle and saw Biotene mouthwash, which totally reminded me of the Biotene toothpaste sample I received.

I have somewhat sensitive teeth.  I hate it when I want to eat ice cream because my stomach is craving it, but it hurts so bad to eat it because my teeth do not like the coldness.  Or even trying to take a sip of cold water on a hot and humid day should be relief, but instead hurts.  This toothpaste would have helped me out in the past by not letting me suffer through things that I should otherwise enjoy.  Its not a band-aid solution, its to help cure the problem.  I hate when I try something and it only masks the problem instead of helping to resolve the problem.

My favorite thing about this sensitive toothpaste is that I actually really like the taste.  I am not a mint fan.  It is hard to find any type of toothpaste that is not in mint flavor or cinnamon (neither or which I can handle).  Biotene has a very unique taste.  My sister explained it the best–tastes like Chiclets.   I may even go back to the store to pick up a full tube of Biotene with the mouthwash.

Crafting

This morning my mother and I went to another craft sale. (Which my husband still does not understand.) I trusted my mother to check the time of the craft sale, which she said it was 9. I got up early (7 in the morning) to get ready and drive to my parents. For me, lately this was sleeping in. Actually when I woke up at 7, I started to freak out, thinking I was late for work. Anyways, on the way to my parents, I had to stop at the ATM and take some money out of my checking account.   We get the craft sale and get a really good parking spot and we think this is weird.  We decide to go in and no line.  I finally locate a sign that says it doesn’t start until 10.  So we went to Linens and Things and got some gifts and then went back!  This is what I bought for my Grandmother:

Shopoholic

Yesterday after work, I made Andy stop at Shopko because I saw a sale on box set DVD’s.  I love Remington Steele (I know I’m strange) so I got season 2 and 3 for $20 each.  I like to walk on the treadmill while watching the show.  It helps pass the time.  I didn’t need these box sets, but I like spending money. Hopefully one day I do not come home with Chrysler 300 accessories just because they are in the checkout lane.  I have a tendency to do that with magazines or stuff that just looks like I may need it at some point in my life.  Everyone needs a lint roller and batteries!

Kohls again

I think I need to buy stock in Kohl’s!  I spend enough money there.  Yesterday I bought a shirt for me, a belt for me and then the most comfortable pajamas in the world.  They feel really silky, like you would be sleeping in silk sheets.  The reason I bought them was for our trip.  We have a weight restriction on the flight from Germany to Paris, so we are trying to keep the weight down.  These pj’s weight next to nothing.  They are Apt. 9 intimates.  I look forward to wearing them!  Plus they are my favorite color, blue–so that makes them that much cooler!

Shopping at Kohl’s

If you haven’t noticed, I am obsessed with the store Kohl’s.  Last night, Andy and I went to pick up a nice short-sleeved shirt for my friend’s wedding next week.  Andy has this problem with sweating a lot so I am not going to make him wear long-sleeved, but I still want him to look a little formal.  Well, this small shopping trip turned into buying 8 shirts, one tie, and a pair of khakis all for about $100.  That, I think is awesome and I can justify it as new clothes for a new job for Andy.  So today, my friend and I are going back to Kohl’s (sale going on) to get some stuff for me this time.

Each time we buy stuff, they always ask us if we have a Kohl’s card.  Andy always says no and says we don’t need one either.  I am thinking we do because we drop about a $100 every few months for new clothes.  I know that they offer good deals  if you have the card.  I guess I will have to work on Andy a little bit more.

Olympus Camera

First of all, I hate when I go to stores where I know where they work on commission when they bug you to death when you do not want to be. The worst is when you do need help and they do not help you. It took us about 15 minutes to get help at Circuit City. But when we did, the guy really knew his stuff. We went in to get a Cannon, but they only had a 3X zoom. Andy has thing about wanting a better zoom. I like the fact the Olympus has 27 different settings, including cuisine. I like to take pictures of foods that I normally do not eat. It is also is all weather so it can stand to get a little rained on. It is smaller than our Cannon, and it also takes a lithium battery rather than 4 AA rechargeable batteries.
