The Mitchell Report

I do not follow sports.  I do not care to.  But I have been hearing stuff lately about the Mitchell report.  Andy told me Bud Segal spent about 40 million on this report.  All I know about this report is that a lot of famous ball players are on there for taking stuff like like steroids, HGB, maybe even prohormones.  But really, what is the point in this?  Are these people going to be kicked out of baseball?  No.  Are they going to get fined? Maybe.  But what really is going to happen is that their reputations are down the drain.  Okay, that’s enough sports talk for me for the rest of the year!

Free for Exercise

I may not love to work all the time, but I love the perks that working for insurance company get me.  On Thursday, my husband and I had to spent $175 (to be technical $173.56) dollars for doing pretty much nothing.  We had tracked our sleep patterns for about 2 weeks and got $55 dollars for that.  I had taken an ergonomics quiz for $25.00.  We had a fruit and water intake for 2 weeks that you could earn up to $60.00.  All in all, you can earn up to about $250.00 every six months to use on health related stuff.

Last year, Andy and I bought a treadmill.  It was originally like $900.00 then on sale for like $500.00 and we both had a $100.00 so we only ended up paying about $300.00 for a nice treadmill.  Other items you can purchase are clothing, a grill, a swing set, massages, etc.

This time around, we decided not to go for a big purchase.  We just went over to do Dunhams  I got a workout outfit (pants, shirt, bra and jacket) for like a hundred bucks (it was Nike).  Andy wanted dumbbells.  I really do look forward to using the items.  Here is a picture of the stuff we got.  And it was free.  (Well Andy says we have to pay like $35.00 income tax on it, but whatever.)

Five Dollars

I joined a pool today for the Packer/Cowboy game.  This is regardless of the fact that I had no intention of watching the game.  I spent the night talking on the phone and catching up on shows.  I did just turn on the game 24 to 27 so I quickly turned it off.  Andy did tell me Favre was hurt, but I wasn’t watching at that point so its not my fault.  Really it isn’t.  Oh well.  Funny thing is that I do not even really understand how the game works.  I assume someone would tell me if I won.

Five for Fighting

I actually know what that means.  It is a penalty in hockey–5 minutes for fighting.  The reason I know that is because one of Andy’s friends is engaged to a hockey player.  Oh and because its a name of a band.  Its funny that a sports game has a timeout.  I wonder if a mother made up that rule!  I do know more about it than I used to. I think its a fun sport to watch, I just don’t like that it can end in a tie. I would like to go see a hockey game sometime, I’ve heard it can be a blast.

I think for the fiancee’s birthday, if we were to get him a gift, it would be pretty easy to find something for him at Hockeyoverstock.com.  The cool thing is just buy going to the site and entering in promotional code: ppp001107, you can get 5% off your order.  Not only can you get apparel, you can also get equipment for the game.  I like the great low prices.  I am a bargain shopper, I do not like to buy anything if it is not on sale.  Just by glancing at the prices for hockey skates, they seem to be priced reasonably.  I actually found some tee-shirts that I would wear bumming around.

10-1

I can’t believe it.  I actually watched a Packer game and they won.  I got a little worried at the beginning when they didn’t start off too good against the Detriot Lions, but the Packers came back.  I think what actually did help is that I fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the fourth so they could hold onto the win.  But still, I don’t like football.  I would rather spend time reading or surfing the Internet, or blogging!  But I do like to watch Brett Favre.  He just looks like he’s having a great time, smiling all the time.

Moneymaker

Every year, the Packers offer a lottery for the upper seats at Lambeau field.  Last year, I gave my tickets to my father because we didn’t have extra money because of our wedding.  I ended up getting the Packer/Bears games.  I think I could have come up with the money for these tickets because I could have made money ten-fold with those tickets.  This year I think we have the Cowboys tickets or the Lions tickets.  Andy is holding onto the tickets to see if the Packers keep doing good because the better the Packers do, the more money we could get for the tickets.  We will just have to wait and see.

Snows around the Corner

I have been skiing once.  I fell a lot.  I recently watched a “Girls Next Store” episode that made me want to try something else in the snow–snowboarding.  It looks like so much fun, and maybe easier for me than skiing.  But first I would need to look into buying one of the burton snowboards.  Personally, I would have no idea where to even start looking for a snowboard.  It is much easier for me if all the equipment that I need is located in one store or on one website.  The descriptions are very vivid and explain exactly what each snowboard is designed for.  I do not feel as bothered reading descriptions as I am when I am being bombarded in the stores by salespeople trying to work for commission.  This winter, I am going to see if I can talk Andy into snowboarding.  You only live once!

Backgammon Presents

This Saturday is going to be a fight sponsored by backgammon online between little known Roman Greenburg who has yet to be defeated.  His wins are 25 (same of his age) right now and his loses are zero!  That is amazing!  Roman is a well rounded man, born in Russia, raised in Israel and trained in yet another country, the UK.  The fight will take place in Salt Lake City, the Exhibition center.  Roman has had a bit of time off between this fight and his last one which was in March.  Hopefully the break will not harm him.   He is fighting against a veteran, Damon Reed (35 years old) whos wins-loses measure not as well as Greenburg’s.  Amazing what people consider old in sports. Per backgammon online, this will be a pay per view event with three other fights on the show.  This is actually supposed to be the hardest opponent that Greenburg has faced.  If he wins this one, he may fight a man who hasn’t fought since 2004–Vitali Klitschko, in September.   I never used to get into boxing or fighting or wrestling, but ever since I saw Rocky a couple of weekends ago, it makes me want to watch some real fights.

Golfing

Andy wants to get me golfing again, and I have to admit I actually did kind of like it.  I know if I keep going, my handicap will get better.  I know Andy would love to try some USGA golf handicap software.  He has about a 22-30 right now.  I have no idea what mine is, I do not think I even want to venture a guess.   This software would help us find out our scores and improve.  I know the more we go disc golfing, the better I get so I assume the same thing would happen with regular golfing.

Sports and Kari

Those do not mix.  I find this very amusing.  I live in Green Bay.  I know of one Packer playing based on watching the games and that it Brett Favre.  But tonight I impressed myself.  We went to eat at a resturant called Fratellos, which is new to the area.  Well when we getting up to leave, there was a couple waiting to be seated.  I though the woman was overdressed in a short gold mini dress and that is why I actually noticed them.  I turned to Andy and said oh my god, that’s AJ Hawk, outside linebacker or something.  But you wanna know how I knew who he was!  He does the promo at the beginning of movies at the movie theater around here telling people to shut off their phones.
