Who, may you be asking is Betty? That is our Prius which just recently turned one year old. Andy thinks in a year we’ve put too many miles on it–about 15,000 to be exact. But his parents live in St. Cloud Minnesota, about a 6 hour trip from here and my sister lives in Chicago, a three hour trip. These trips add up.
I still love our Prius. Granted after we bought it, the price of gas started to go down a bit, but we are still saving money. Andy even read an article that the Prius Touring 09 made the top car list for value over 5 years. It really makes me wonder how much money we really have saved.
I wonder how many Lamborginis, Lexus or even Ferrari parts are doing these days. I don’t really see these are cars people would buy with the economy the way it is. But then again, I don’t have money, so what do I know.
Happy B-day Betty! Hope to get more years out of you! And can’t wait till it gets warm again to get 50 miles to the gallon!

I learned something from my mother last night. When our baby is old enough to talk and ask questions, I am going to have to learn to explain everything. My mother bought my niece a Tag reading system for Xmas. Since my parents have DSL and you have to download the books onto the Tag pen, my mother gave me the stuff so that when Maddie opens the gifts on Xmas, she can play with them right away. The issue my mom had was she didn’t understand how the books got on the pen. I explained that we download them onto the pen. My dad tried explaining that its like recording on a VHS tape, but she still didn’t understand how they got on the pen. When my husband finally entered the conversation, he figured out what my mom didn’t get. He asked if there was a USB cord to download the information and my mom went “oh—I thought you would just lay the pen next to the computer and the pen would just absorb it.” Its something that I forget if you don’t use a computer, you don’t know that you use a USB cord to download. But it did give us all a good laugh!

Everytime we travel to Andy’s parents, I think about Star Trek and the teleportation that is used to get to one place to another. Yesterday we left our house at about 10 am and didn’t get to his parents until about 5. Yes, we did stop for lunch and for a couple of bathroom breaks, but the normal 5 and a half hour drive takes a toll on a person. Now if we could only get some wholesale electronics and build our own teleportation system, that would be great. But, according to an episode of The Big Bang Theory, it’s not really you that would be teleported, it would be a copy of you. Now that is getting into way to much science for me. I just wish car trips would be shorter. That is all I am saying.

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about this yet. Last Friday, Andy and I bought a Wii. We were just planning on looking at it, seeing the price, the accessories and games. We stopped at Circuit City –who didn’t have any and really had no clue when. They also said there is a line out the door for them so you have to get there early to get one. We decided to stop at Best Buy just to see and they actually had one. Since I am an impulsive buyer, we bought it with some accessories. The reason we decided to actually buy one is that our work will reimburse us for it because it is an exercise tool and promotes family time. We only ended up paying $30.00. We have another oppurtuinity to make $60.00 each so with that money we are going to buy Wii fit. I love it already and want more accessories and more games. I know we need memory cards. Andy wants Tiger Woods Golf, but I told him he has to wait. But its nice that I’ll be able to find stuff to put on his Xmas list. I should probably start that soon! Its less than 6 months away!

Andy’s parents just got a GPS for their car, a TomThumb, I think. I know my sister just purchased one on Black Friday. Even though they knew where they were going, they used it to see how it works. Andy set it up so the voice that speaks is Australian English-named Karen. Well, it started to become a game when we would have Karen recalculate the route when we wouldn’t take a turn she wanted to. I would so do that with a GPS. I guess Chris, Andy’s brother, went to the grocery store with the GPS (American English-Jill) and the Jill wasn’t aware that there was a new bridge and thought Chris had driven into the water. I think its actually quite helpful gift. I can see why they were pushing them this year. Plus a guy never has to leave the car for directions. I would like this because I never know where I am when I am driving. It helps find restaurants and movie theaters and so much more. Plus theirs has a mp3 player. Andy doesn’t think we need one since he always knows where he is going.

I do not know what is wrong with our Internet. I do not know if it is me, but there is something wrong with our Cat5E ether net cable or just with the Internet. I swear even just getting onto the Internet, I need to turn off our receiver and wait for it to reload. I really hate that. I wish I knew more about technology. There is something else really weird going on. At work, my work phone keeps on logging me off. The other weird thing is my mouse and the 3 other cubicles our mouses (mice) tend to stop working at the same time. For all you techie people, is this just a coincidence or just random?
