While at Best Buy the other day, I really started to think like a mother. I was looking at some Wii games when I saw a young boy playing Wii Resort (which by the way rocks–really fun). I really am considering getting Wii Super Mario Brothers Wii–I always loved the game on Nintendo. Anyways, back to Best Buy–The worst thing is that the entire time he was playing the game, he was standing there coughing open mouthed all over the place, never once trying to cover his mouth. I, for one, will probably never play a game at a store ever again without first wanting to sanitize it.

I really feel for our daycare lady. Since we have joined the daycare 5 months ago, her ex, her uncle and now mother has passed away. This is one heck of a way to end the year. I am still a bit in shock about her mother. One day we see her, and then she is gone. It is amazing how short life really is when you stop to think about it. Our daycare lady’s father now is in the hospital, so we hope he gets better. We are hoping the old wives tale that bad things comes in threes so that she can end the year maybe on a more happier note.

I do not know what it is about this Xmas, but it seems like no one has been asking for Xmas lists. It is probably a good thing because I do not have much on the lists. I do not know what I want for Xmas. Its not like I need a Bluetooth headset–I mean, I could use it, but its not something I would actually ask for or buy myself. This year, I think I am going to ask for some Wii games and Wii accesories. I always ask for something for the house and this year, I decided to pick up something for me.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is not to say anything at all. Kate Gosselin understands that, it doesn’t seem that Jon does at all. It was so very nice not reading/seeing anything in/on the news for a week. Until this weekend–Jon is suing TLC for 5 million dollars. Something to do with defaming his character—I do not think TLC had anything to do with that. I think opening his own mouth in the last few months is all anyone needed to hear for people not to want to associate or work with him. But that’s just me. Maybe its because I am a new mom, but I am so on Team Kate. Back when Kate and Jon were married, my hubby would have immediately sided with Jon. But as soon as they seperated and Jon started talking smack, he jumped over to Team Kate. (Can you tell Twilight: New Moon is opening this weekend–I’m Team Edward)

I have started trying new things lately, including tea. Especially with it starting to get cold, now I may even start trying coffee or even try using an espresso machines. Right now, I can’t drink diet soda since I am still breastfeeding, so tea or coffee is the best bet because they are 0 points. I like to use my points on actual food rather than drink. I have tried coffee in the past and was not impressed, but maybe it was the type of coffee. My husband likes his black, maybe I just need to add cream or try different flavors. Right now, I am sticking with tea–mostly lemon flavored because I am still sticking to what I know what I like.

Andy and I had always talked about making baby food and we actually decided to start this weekend with butternut squash since Gabe seems to go nuts with the squash. First you take a butternut squash about 1 and 1/4 pounds to make 2 1/2 cups.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With a heavy sharp knife, cut the squash in half. Scrape out the seeds and strings to discard.
Put squash, cut side down, in a baking pan. Pour water into the pan to come 1/4 inch up the sides of the squash. Roast until tender when pierced with fork–about 45 minutes.
Scoop out flush and puree in food processor (such as a Babycook–which Andy’s mother bought us for Xmas) until smooth.
Store in refrigerator for up to 3 days or 3 months in the freezer.

Today was such a nice day out in Wisconsin–I think the temperature was about 61 degrees—which is almost unheard of in November. We usually have our first snowfall by now. I am not going to complain about our nice weather, although it does make me wonder about global warming, but that’s a different story. A lot of people started putting up their Christmas lights and artificial christmas trees. Andy loves real trees, so it’s not like we can buy one yet–do not think it would last until Christmas time. I have yet to start decorating for Christmas because I thought decorating before Thanksgiving was not a good thing. I feel like I would be leaving Thanksgiving out of the loop–you know like the red headed step child. But, then again, we don’t really do anything for Thanksgiving, so it wouldn’t really matter if we started decorating. It will be Gabe’s first Xmas, so I want to make it very special. Hmm, maybe I will start next weekend.

Well I guess its not a shot through the heart, more of a shot to the arm or nose. I just got a letter in the mail from the hospital in our area stating that they are going to have the H1N1 shots available next week. I would like to get the shot, but my husband doesn’t. We are in the high risk category because Gabe is 6 months old. Although we think Andy may have already had the flu, but we aren’t sure if it was swine or normal flu. Andy is afraid of the horror stories that have come out with getting vaccinations in the recent news. I have never had a reaction to a vacinne, other than maybe getting a little sick, but I think its in the best interest of Gabe to get one. But if only one of us gets the vacinne, is that really helping Gabe? I can’t call and make an appointment until Monday, so we will just have to discuss it more this weekend.

Maybe I’m a snob, maybe I’m loyal, but I do not like the new Girls Next door. I miss Kendra, Bridget and Holly. The new girls, Crystal and the twins (can’t even remember their names) are not as entertaining as the original. The twins do not have any personality–the only personality they seem to have is that they do not have a seperate one, so it really seems like there are only 2 girlfriends. Also, the relationship between Hef and the three seem forced. None of them seem to have the relationship that Hef did with Holly. They do not seem to have the ability to make stuff look fun and interesting. The orginal could make an entire episode out of picking the best eye cream and make it interesting. My husband says I just need to give these new girls a chance, but I think I am done watching the show. I gave it 3 episodes. I want my Girls back!

My best friend wanted to move to California because she thought everyone knows everyone in Wisconsin. Which I thought was a little far fetched at the time. But ever since Facebook, I have noticed a lot of similar friends/relatives as friends that I had no clue knew one another. I guess we do live in a small state bubble, but is that really a bad thing? Today while talking with my best friend, she voiced her concern of when she does choose to have children (hopefully not in the near future) she will not have any friends/family near by to help out with the child rearing. It is so nice I can call my mother out of nowhere or that we have friends that would help out in an instant. Its really great and a lot less stressful to know that.
